COOKBOOK
Publisher Mo'media
Stadskookboek Rotterdam isn’t your average cookbook; it’s a journey through the city, led by food journalists Wim de Jong and Frank van Dijl. Discover the best neighborhoods and favorite hang outs, get to know sensational chefs and learn how to cook like a true Rotterdammer.
Mo’media Publishers gave us the opportunity to create the perfect design for this concept. Our design aims to express the atmosphere of the city; raw, rough around the edges, unique and exciting. A year later we made a second revised edition.

A unique font
We created a custom-made font for the book, based on Bianca’s playful handwriting. The title fonts introducing each chef were handwritten as well. These custom fonts provide an edgy, unfinished look that matches the style of the book as well as the city presented in its pages.

Bold Illustrations
For a book about a city like Rotterdam, highly detailed illustrations just won’t do. The roughly but finely sketched out, bold illustrations give a glimpse of the different sights of the city and its people, matching the look and feel the publisher had in mind.

Recipes
A cookbook is for cooking, so the last 64 pages of the book are devoted to recipes from local chefs and restaurants. That delicious coffee crumble cake from Koekela? No need to leave the house to get it, just make it yourself!

Mo'media:
“Changing, shifting, examining and changing it again: Roquefort kept going until the puzzle fit and the book was perfect. A wonderful team to work with!”
– Joyce Enthoven, publisher
